About All Kinds of Watches
Hello! I'm Ricardo, and my fascination with watches goes back to childhood.
My father owned Swiss watches, Seikos and others, and I remember being fascinated by them from an early age. Later came Casio calculator watches, G-Shocks and all sorts of remarkable things that somehow found their way onto our wrists.
That fascination never disappeared. If anything, it has only grown.
Over the years, I've developed a particular appreciation for traditional mechanical movements, but I also enjoy modern watchmaking. A beautifully engineered Swiss automatic can impress me just as much as a lightweight titanium watch, an accurate quartz movement or a clever digital Casio.
I don't believe a watch needs to be expensive, prestigious or mechanical to be special. Sometimes the most unexpected watches turn out to be the most enjoyable.
A Different Way of Enjoying Watches
I've come to realise that my relationship with watches is perhaps a little unusual.
I don't just buy watches to sell them. I buy watches because they interest me, and I want to experience them.
I enjoy finding them, examining them, cleaning them, wearing them and discovering what makes each one special.
A watch has to make me happy. It has to impress me in some way, whether through its design, engineering, character, condition or simply how it feels on my wrist.
And when I've enjoyed that experience, something interesting happens.
Rather than putting the watch away and building an ever-growing collection, I feel ready to let it go.
Not because I've stopped appreciating it, but because I would like someone else to discover that same pleasure.
For me, the enjoyment of a watch doesn't have to end with ownership. Sometimes the greatest satisfaction comes from passing it on.
The Happiness of the Next Owner
Of course, All Kinds of Watches is a business, but making a profit has never been my only motivation.
One of the most rewarding parts of selling watches is hearing from the people who receive them.
Over time, I've noticed something recurring in my eBay feedback. Buyers often use the same expressions:
"Very happy with my purchase."
"Better than described."
"Excellent condition."
"Even better than expected."
Some tell me that a watch is much more impressive in person than it appeared in the photographs. Others are delighted to finally own a particular model they've admired for years.
Those messages mean a great deal to me.
I take pleasure in presenting watches accurately, preparing them carefully and packing them securely. I want the experience of receiving a watch to be every bit as enjoyable as discovering it.
And when somebody tells me how happy they are with their purchase, I feel that the watch has found the right person.
Find. Wear. Enjoy.
That's really what All Kinds of Watches is about.
Discovering interesting watches, appreciating their individuality, enjoying them and eventually giving someone else the opportunity to do the same.
I'm not trying to build the biggest personal watch collection. I'm much happier letting wonderful watches continue their journeys.
There will always be another interesting watch to discover, another design to admire and another little piece of engineering to enjoy.
And perhaps another very happy owner waiting somewhere.
