Vintage ORIS Swiss Watch 1950s Mechanical 15J Gold Plated – Classic Dress Watch

A charming vintage ORIS Swiss mechanical wristwatch dating from the 1950s, featuring a classic gold-plated case and an attractive period dial.

The dial is particularly appealing, with a two-tone design combining a brushed central section with a textured outer chapter. Applied gold-tone Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 are complemented by shaped hour markers, gold-tone hands and a central seconds hand.

The dial is signed ORIS, WATERPROOF, ANTI-SHOCK and 15, with SWISS MADE at the bottom, indicating the 15-jewel mechanical movement within.

This is a traditional hand-wound mechanical watch, requiring manual winding rather than a battery. Its modest proportions, warm gold finish and restrained dial design are characteristic of Swiss dress watches of the period.

The watch was running and keeping time at the time of sale.

The watch remains in attractive vintage condition, showing expected signs of age and previous wear. There is visible wear to the gold plating around the case and lugs, together with age-related marks and patina. These are entirely in keeping with a watch of this age and contribute to its genuine vintage character.

A lovely example of a mid-century ORIS mechanical dress watch, ideal for a collector of vintage Swiss watches or anyone who appreciates the smaller dimensions and elegant styling of watches from the 1950s.

Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related wear, marks and plating wear. Please refer carefully to the photographs, which formed part of the original description.

Please note: Although the dial is marked "Waterproof", no water resistance should be assumed on a vintage watch of this age. The watch was not pressure tested and should be kept away from water.
