Vintage CYMA 15 Jewel Swiss Pocket Watch c.1920 – Running – Early Service Marks

A characterful vintage CYMA Swiss pocket watch, dating from approximately the 1920s, powered by a traditional 15-jewel hand-wound mechanical movement.
CYMA has a long history in Swiss watchmaking, and this is a lovely surviving example from the early decades of the 20th century. The watch has a wonderfully simple and functional period appearance, with a silver-tone dial, bold black Arabic numerals and an outer minute track.
A subsidiary seconds dial is positioned at 6 o'clock, while the dark hands provide strong contrast against the lighter dial. The restrained design is typical of practical Swiss pocket watches from this period.
The watch is manually wound using the crown and was running at the time of sale.
Of particular interest are the early watchmaker's service marks found inside the case. These hand-scratched markings were traditionally left by watchmakers when a watch was serviced or repaired and form part of the individual history of the piece. Rather than detracting from the watch, they provide an interesting record of its long working life.

The watch shows genuine signs of age and use consistent with a timepiece approximately a century old. The dial has visible age-related spotting, marks and patina, while the case shows wear and surface marks from many years of handling.
These imperfections were retained rather than disguised and form an important part of the watch's vintage character.
A fascinating old CYMA for a collector of Swiss pocket watches, early mechanical watches or horological history, and a piece that has clearly survived many decades of use and maintenance.
Condition: Good vintage condition for its age. Running at the time of sale, with age-related wear, marks and patina throughout. Please refer carefully to the photographs, which formed part of the original description.
Please note: The watch was running when tested, but it was not represented as recently serviced and no guarantee of modern-level accuracy was made. As with any mechanical watch of this age, servicing may be required for continued reliable use.
