A superb Seiko 5 Sports GMT SBSC001, the Japanese-market counterpart of the internationally sold SSK001, combining the familiar Seiko 5 Sports design with a practical mechanical GMT complication.
This example is the SBSC001 Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) model, marked Made in Japan, and features the highly attractive black dial and black-and-grey 24-hour rotating bezel.
The dial follows the classic Seiko 5 Sports layout, with large luminous hands and applied hour markers providing excellent legibility. The distinctive red GMT hand immediately stands out against the black dial and can be used in conjunction with the 24-hour scale to track an additional time zone.
A date window is positioned at 3 o'clock beneath Seiko's characteristic magnifying lens.
At the heart of the watch is Seiko's 4R34 automatic mechanical GMT movement. This 24-jewel calibre provides automatic winding, manual winding and hacking seconds, together with the independently adjustable 24-hour GMT hand.

The watch was running and keeping time correctly at the time of sale, with the automatic movement, GMT hand and date function operating as expected.
This example presented very well and was supplied with its Seiko presentation box and documentation, as pictured.
The SBSC001 is particularly appealing for enthusiasts who appreciate the traditional Seiko 5 Sports aesthetic but want the added practicality of a mechanical GMT. The red GMT hand provides just enough colour to contrast with the otherwise restrained black and stainless-steel design.
