Rare Gents Vintage InCarna BWC Swiss Made Mechanical Watch Gold Plated Case 1940

A charming and unusual vintage InCarna Swiss mechanical wristwatch, dating from approximately the 1940s, featuring a classic gold-plated case and traditional hand-wound movement.
The dial is signed InCarna and Ancre 15 Rubis, indicating a 15-jewel lever movement, while the subsidiary seconds dial is marked Antimagnetic. The watch is associated with BWC (Buttes Watch Company), a long-established Swiss watch manufacturer.
The beautifully simple cream dial is characteristic of the period, with highly legible Arabic numerals, an outer minute track, slender gold-tone hands and a traditional subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock.
The watch is powered by a manual-wind Swiss mechanical movement, requiring winding by hand through the crown. There is no battery — this is traditional mechanical watchmaking from an earlier era.

This example retains considerable vintage character. The dial presents particularly attractively for its age, while the gold-plated case shows visible wear, marks and areas of plating loss consistent with decades of use. Rather than detracting from the watch, these signs of age give it the unmistakable appearance of a genuine period timepiece.
The smaller case dimensions and simple dial are typical of gentlemen's wristwatches from the 1940s, when watches were considerably more restrained in size than most modern designs.
A lovely and relatively unusual piece for a collector of vintage Swiss watches, BWC watches or early mechanical wristwatches, and an excellent example of the elegant, functional designs produced during this period.
Condition: Good vintage condition for its age. The watch shows age-related wear, scratches, marks and visible wear to the gold plating. The dial remains attractive with light signs of age. Please refer carefully to the photographs, which formed part of the original description.
Please note: The watch was running when tested but was not represented as recently serviced. As with any mechanical watch of this age, exact timekeeping may vary and future servicing may be required. Water resistance should not be assumed.
